As part of Chetwoods’ work with Gazeley and the Gazeley ‘Virtual Team’, the Practice continues to develop thinking on how to deliver sustainable cost effective solutions beyond the UK market.
What started as the Eco Template in 2003 has now extended to other markets around the World. Studies have been completed for the Middle East, focusing on the Dubai market, along with appraisals for other parts of Europe including France, Germany, Italy and Spain.
The results of the studies present opportunities for environmental improvements to the current logistics markets, with cost effective initiatives representing ‘real’ advantages both in terms of CO2 emissions and capital-cost costs savings. These, together with the long-term operational cost savings to the occupier, provide further opportunities for a significant step change in end-user thinking, thereby changing the shape of sheds in the future.
The new warehouses will provide cutting-edge design to deliver environmental performance significantly better than country legislative requirements, with the capacity to export power and heat to neighbouring developments.
