Planning consent has recently been given to Chetwoods’ design for a new 100,000 sq. ft headquarters office development for Brookgate. The building forms the first phase of Brookgate’s 1.3m sq. ft (£800m) mixed use CB1 scheme regenerating Cambridge’s station area.
The eventual scheme could include up to 600,000 ft2 of offices, 500,000 ft2 of residential, 56,000 ft retail, student accommodation, hotel transport interchange and community facilities. Outline consent for this content was secured for the overall 26 acre site in 2008.
Detailed planning for this first phase will see the building completed in winter 2012 for tenant Microsoft Research. The building will deliver standards of innovative sustainable design that achieve an ‘excellent’ BREEAM rating. This embodies the commitment to efficient design fundamental to Chetwoods’ philosophy.
