The scheme for a residential sales centre in China was inspired by the natural water cycle

Chetwoods international United Studio and CCSD teams’ design for the interiors of a residential sales centre within a new high-tech residential and commercial park in Shenzhen created a sequence of experiential spaces aimed at marketing and selling new residential apartments.
The confidential scheme to repurpose the building was inspired by the natural water cycle. A wellspring in nature is a source of life-enabling water, which provided a fitting theme symbolising a wellspring of prosperity and wellbeing for the residential sales team and the future residents of the new urban neighbourhood.
Visitors are guided on a journey through various areas of the building that highlight or reference different states of water, from its liquid state including springs and water networks, to vaporised clouds.

The journey begins at the Cloud Valley arrival zone, encompassing the reception area, a children’s pebble play area, and a sand table. From there, the route leads through branding and demonstration zones, as well as mock-up apartments showcasing cloud technology. Relaxation areas include a Wellspring Lounge, a Spring Garden, and a Cloud Bar, while the VIP signing zone adopts a more formal approach.

The interior design drew on a biophilic approach, incorporating woven, reflective, and tactile natural materials alongside artistic, interactive light and colour projections to enhance ambient lighting.

The team also explored interventions on the building’s façade, including new louvre systems for environmental benefits such as solar shading. These louvres were tailored to respond to sunlight and heat radiation mapping, with horizontal elements used in the south and north façades, and vertical elements applied in the east and west. Integrated, customisable lighting modes were also designed, ensuring the building stood out while complementing the surrounding landscape and supporting the wider neighbourhood concept.

Proposed landscape interventions centred on creating connections along water and green networks, with features designed as ‘islands’. A Mist Bridge, connecting the building to its neighbouring residential towers, integrated water harvesting systems, educational facilities for children, and a Rain-Eco Open School. Other features included water sculptures, urban park furniture, shade canopies, mindful water zones, and water pools.
