NLA RePower London Report features nine of our latest industrial infrastructure and data centre schemes.

We were delighted to attend the launch of the NLA’s latest report, RePower London. The report and a display at the London Centre explore a place-based, people-centric approach to delivering infrastructure in the context of the modal shift to cleaner energy.

At Chetwoods we are currently working on a range of industrial intensification schemes, including over three million sqft of data centre space, in key urban locations, and the Report Showcase includes a number of these projects, from which we feature highlights below:

We have recently received planning permission for Segro Park Wapping (above), which will regenerate a brownfield site to provide 7,500 sqm of flexible, lower-carbon industrial and office space.  The scheme will deliver social, economic, and ecological benefits with sustainable and healthy design.

A 151,350 sqft sustainable urban logistics scheme for GLP in Stratford (below) will intensify an existing site for flexible uses to create an exemplar for urban logistics. The approach to materials demonstrates a proactive approach to an industry-wide transition to a circular economy including prioritising the reuse of de-constructed structural elements.

We have delivered two multi-tenanted ultra-urban sustainable warehouse schemes for Bloom Developments in Brixton and Greenwich (below) which have repurposed and intensified SIL land. They have been designed to maximise sustainability and energy efficiency and enhance ecological value, with flexible space suitable for traditional and modern industrial occupiers.

Our design (below) for the relocation of the City of London Corporation’s wholesale markets from Billingsgate and Smithfield to purpose-built facilities on an abandoned industrial site at Dagenham Dock will regenerate 42 acres of industrial land into a 2.56 million sqft modern, sustainable wholesale food market.

Bugsby’s Way (below) is a proposed multi-use scheme for the GLA to support a range of businesses from logistics operators to SMEs on a key Strategic Industrial Land (SIL) site on the Greenwich Peninsula. The concept incorporates regenerative design and circular economy principles, and prioritises adding social, environmental, and economic value to surrounding communities.

Sensitive placemaking was key to the design approach to a high profile and prominent super-prime industrial unit for Legal and General at West Cross Brentford (below). It required a high-quality, modern, and innovative response to a site with an iconic history as the former 1928 Art Deco Firestone Building.

Cory Energy’s new purpose-built industrial waste handling building in Barking forms part of the world’s largest single-site waste decarbonising project. The development modernises an existing Safeguarded Waste Site, and refurbishes two Safeguarded Wharves to transform waste movement.

We apply innovative design solutions to reduce the time it takes to achieve planning consent and deliver schemes. Our approach incorporates the three elements of our philosophy: Studio, innovative design; Thrive, leading sustainability and wellbeing; Works, advanced technological solutions.
