Bath Western Riverside
Bath’s status as a UNESCO World Heritage City required an extremely sensitive approach to the development of design proposals to ensure they respected and complemented the city’s world-renowned historic architectural and natural environment.
Over 60 stakeholders were engaged in a series of design charrettes, held in partnership with key cultural, historical, business and resident groups across the city, as well as the local authority, to ensure that all local conservation, environmental and social issues and concerns were fully understood and addressed.
The mixed-use masterplan featured a 65,000 sqft gross sales flagship store and a 35,000 sqft creative office hub with a further 500,000 sqft industrial and office space. Over 300 mixed residential units included 12 four-storey townhouses. Public realm and pedestrian links were enhanced, and existed listed buildings including the historic Green Park Station building refurbished and repurposed.
