Oldchurch Park Romford
The development added a new character to the area, with the rigorous application of good urban design principles including the maximisation of public and private amenity space, home-zones to give equal priority to vehicles and pedestrians, internal courtyards, raised courtyards, balconies and roof terraces. The site layout comprises a desegregated network of streets permeating the relatively disconnected site to the two main roads to the north and south. Some existing buildings of merit were retained and incorporated into the new scheme.
The new buildings include two perimeter blocks to the southern part of the site rising from three to five-storeys, with a row of four higher-density blocks positioned to the north. The east and west bounding blocks have six-storeys, with two central blocks rising from six to nine-storeys.
The scheme was designed to Lifetime Homes Standards.
