Our design for Belgrave Village redefines urban living with an innovative masterplan which creates an urban oasis, regenerating a once vacant brownfield site in the heart of Birmingham. This visionary development is poised to reshape urban living, emphasising increased sustainability, wellbeing, and community engagement.

Revitalizing a Brownfield Site

‍Our innovative approach repurposes a long-standing vacant brownfield site, breathing new life into an underutilised area, and transforming it into a thriving urban village. Located on the former Joseph Chamberlain College, Belgrave Village will be the next chapter on this important site in the Balsall Heath area close to Birmingham’s bustling city centre.

Placemaking Design

‍Belgrave Village is organised into three distinct character areas, fostering a strong sense of identity and place. The centrepiece is a linear park that connects the site north to south, promoting connectivity with surrounding neighbourhoods and enhancing the existing pedestrian routes to the city centre.

Sustainable Living

‍The development incorporates innovative approaches to enhance local ecology and biodiversity, including an urban forest within the linear park. Access to green outdoor spaces aligns with the recognised link between nature and mental health and wellbeing. A cornerstone of the design is its commitment to abundant, high-quality outdoor spaces. The traditional concept of individual private gardens is reimagined as individual private patios set within expansive communal private gardens. These shared gardens offer a generous, versatile space for residents to gather, interact, and connect with nature while providing flexibility for various activities, from reading to communal gardening.

Vibrant Amenities

‍Upon completion, Belgrave Village will feature 438 homes, including one and two-bedroom apartments, and two, three, and four-bedroom houses. Residents will enjoy a vast selection of amenities, including indoor gyms, screening rooms, and co-working spaces.

Our approach to architecture and landscape design is evident in Belgrave Village, where the fusion of nature and innovative design redefines urban living. This development represents a significant milestone in repurposing brownfield sites to create sustainable, thriving communities.

Over the last 35 years we have acquired extensive experience in the residential sector.  We designed and delivered award-winning projects in a high-quality sustainable community at Chapel in Southampton, and the mixed-use redevelopment of a 15-acre former goods yard site into the New England Quarter in Brighton. We have recently completed a mixed-use commercial, hotel and residential development on Tooting High Street in London, and incorporated new apartments within our re-design of Shenfield Library.  We are also exploring mixing residential and industrial to create new urban communities in our development of new typologies for co-locating uses on scarce land in London.
