Upon completion this scheme exceeded the UK Government’s Climate Change Bill targets for 2020 and 2050.

The project consisted of a single portal framed warehouse and ancillary office accommodation. All materials were chosen for their sustainable properties in quality, durability and recycling potential.

The development’s environmental innovations ranged from a Biomass power station to kinetic plates which capture energy every time a vehicle enters or leaves the site. Other sustainable features included thermally efficient buildings with air tightness and thermal insulation 25% better than current building regulations. The latest solar cell technology was implanted into special rooflights which eliminate night time light pollution.

The building provides 100% energy and heat from renewable sources, saving 49% on heat and power, 68% on heating, and 68% on water, to provide an overall energy cost in use saving of £300,000 per annum.

In close consultation with planners and the local community, the project also created green corridor and ecology park amenity to enhance biodiversity.
