Concept masterplan for Film Studio in Hyderabad

We were invited to bid for a concept masterplan for a 270,000 sqft state-of-the-art film studio in Hyderabad, India. Our proposed plan included six film studios, associated facility rooms, TV and outdoor studios, food courts, an event arena, and deluxe villas.

The key design drivers were flexibility of use and future expansion; green building concepts suited to the local climate; efficient access, servicing, and noise mitigation; and contextual integration within the wider landscape.

The masterplan ensured large vehicle access for deliveries into a multi-function space that provided a background access and support area to the film stages, where sets, props, and equipment would be held ready for use, and actors could wait.

Film stages featured adjustable sizes and heights with separation for noise control, accessed by large sliding or roller shutter doors that had lobbies for additional noise segregation.  Ancillary facilities were designed with a modular system for optimal flexibility and adaptability. These included: offices, cutting rooms, ADR facilities; screening/preview theatres; dressing rooms, costume, make-up, and hair studios; and rehearsal spaces, green rooms, and technical/post-production facilities.

The local climate conditions and enhanced wellbeing of staff, performers, and visitors were central to our carefully considered design of the studio café, restaurant, and recreational spaces.

This project reflected our globally based international United Studio team's philosophy of designing thriving, inclusive, and sustainable places that enrich the lives of the people who inhabit them.
